Picnic perfect

Picnic perfect

National Picnic Week takes place in June and we like nothing better than a good old fashioned British picnic.

We’ve put together some of our top tips to help you have the perfect picnic:

  1. Don’t forget, comfort comes first! No one likes sitting on lumpy grass, so remember that all important picnic blanket and perhaps a few cushions to make you even more comfy.
  1. Don’t over pack. You will probably have to walk to your picnic spot from the car so go for a cool bag instead of a cool box and don’t forget, what you don’t eat and drink you will need to carry back to the car.
  1. Pick items that are easy to transport such as finger food like sandwiches, cookies, cupcakes, scotch eggs, pork pies, sausage rolls, olives, grapes and strawberries.
  1. Pre-freeze some drinks cartons so you can then place them around your food items in your cool bag to keep them chilled.
  1. Stay protected in the sun! As well as your food, don’t forget to pack the sun cream, hat and sunglasses.
  1. Keep the children amused by taking some games for them to enjoy, such as a bat and ball. French cricket is one of our favourite picnic games and perfect for all the family to get involved with! You could also take a Communibear with you too, click here to buy online and collect in the bakery.
  1. Save on those wet wipes and the impact they have on the environment, and take a flannel presoaked in water and placed in a container for those sticky fingers.
  1. Take your rubbish home with you if you can’t find a bin. Make sure you leave your perfect picnic spot as you found it!
